Invisalign Clear Aligners

Are Clear Aligners Right for Me?

Believe it or not, more than four million people wear braces to correct their smiles. That said, the decision to commit to orthodontic treatment can still be difficult.

Patients looking to straighten teeth or improve the feel of their smile have an important choice to make: traditional braces or Invisalign®. Though both can help you get the smile you deserve, clear align technology offers a few unique benefits that braces do not.

Metal braces are highly functional, however, a common complaint is their lack of aesthetic appeal. Luckily, at White, Greer & Maggard, our orthodontists are proud to offer patients treatment plan options using Invisalign clear aligners — which are virtually invisible

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does treatment take?

With Invisalign®, average treatment times can range from six to eighteen months, depending on the severity of the case. Braces, on the other hand, often require 18 months to three years of average treatment time. While treatment times using aligners vary, users that are diligent about wearing Invisalign® aligners tend to see better end results for their teeth and gums.

When considering the treatment length for braces versus Invisalign®, the latter is often the quicker option. In comparison to traditional braces, clear aligners often require less frequent visits to the orthodontist and require no routine tightening. This makes Invisalign a great option for people seeking more convenient orthodontic treatment options.

How much does Invisalign® cost?

Orthodontic costs, in general, can vary in relation to the severity of each patient’s needs. For instance, minor issues like crooked teeth are often easier to treat than a severe overbite. As such, minor treatments tend to cost less than a more complex case.

That said, the average cost of Invisalign® tends to be less than that of braces. Clear aligners range between $3,000 and $5,000. However, the American Dental Association (ADA) estimates that conventional orthodontics for adults can range in cost between $4,685 and $6,500.

That considered, there are still a number of factors that can influence the cost of treatment including age, insurance coverage, and potential financing options.

What are the benefits of clear aligners?

With metal braces, there are certain restrictions patients must abide by — namely anything that can damage or break the braces. With Invisalign®, that all goes away!

Because the aligners are not a permanent fixture on the teeth, patients have the luxury of removing them as needed (within reason). This allows for easier brushing and flossing, plus, food won’t get stuck like with metal brackets!

But, the benefits don’t stop there! When you begin treatment with Invisalign®, you can smile with confidence knowing that your treatment is the most discrete option available! This makes it a perfect option to wear any place you need to look and feel your best.

The Treatment Process

Invisalign® works using clear plastic aligners that are shaped and fitted to your teeth. Using a series of custom trays, clear aligners replace the wires and brackets used to form conventional braces.

While clear aligners are made of plastic, they can still correct many of the same dental issues as metal braces. In fact, clear aligners are a great solution for many patients seeking to shift their teeth into the proper positions.

Unlike regular orthodontic appliances which must be worn constantly, Invisalign® grants wearers more freedom  requiring only 22 hours of wear a day.
